The Piecaken

You can stuff a turkey for Thanksgiving, but stuff a cake? Yes! Behold the Piecaken. What is a Piecaken? Originally it is a multilayered cake, and on each delicious level is a different kind of pie. It’s basically the Willie Wonka of cakes. Originally created by Zac Young, the Piecaken is composed of Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Spice Cake, Apple Pie and held together by glorious Cinnamon Buttercream. Yah UM! Which is awesome if you are a pastry chef and that is your job to make from scratch pies and cakes and buttercream all day (Oh My!) Or perhaps you are the ambitious home cook that may want to take on the challenge. Instead we found an alternative for those short on time, or have no desire to be a from scratch tower cake wizard. If you would like the original from the original, you can order The Piecaken from Goldbellys

For those who may be baking challenged or simply do not have the time to undertake the Turducken of cakes; we found a great simplified recipe by a talented food blogger, Melanie Makes. Apple Piecaken, made completely by store bought ingredients. That’s it! That is the one for us!! A perfectly crusted and homey (store bought) apple pie baked right into a golden (from mix) fluffy cake, encased in a pudding and cool whip cinnamon frosting. Prep time 15 minutes. That’s right 15 mins! Oh it’s Willie Wonka Wizardry Y’all. You take the imagination of Willie and the behind the scenes tinkering of the Wizard and voila`! A beautiful, scrumptious cake that everyone will love.

Just think…you never have to choose between pie and cake again!

We are sending you straight over the the Melanie Makes version of her Apple Piecaken for the recipe, and while you’re there, drop her a thanks for this amazing Piecaken adaptation. We can be all be Willie Wizards thanks to this fantastic version of the traditional Piecaken.  Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!

We the team at Everyday Amber wish you all a very wonderful and special Thanksgiving. We may not all be able to be with those we love this year, but we adapt. We are resilient.
